Your recommendations are live!
Thousands of you have already added your favorites to the Tumblr Directory, and have helped us find TONS of awesome new blogs to follow. Keep it up! We’ll go again next Tuesday.
Make your nomination if you haven’t yet!
PS. Depending on how well this works out, we’ll probably be replacing our editor’s picks with your recommendations. Sorry, Chris.

Tumblr Tuesday

staff:

Happy Tuesday, Tumblr! You survived another Monday, which is a start. The real question is: Will you survive after all those embarrassing photos of yourself from Halloween surface and spread around the web? I submit that you will, if only because you’ll be distracted by your addiction to all things Tumblr, including the following Tumblr Tuesday selections. They won’t judge you, even if your friends and family will.

The Day in Photos
The fine people at DailyMe run this exemplary photo blog which captures the news of the day. Everything is generously tagged, which is helpful when you’re looking for that perfect AP photo of a cute baby panda.

These Are My Dreams
If you’re into analyzing your dreams, you’ll want to stay awake for this. Zing! TAMD is a collective dream journal, which means this blog has a legitimate excuse for reading like the script from a Spike Jonze movie.

Black and WTF
This site makes me wish the internet had been around since photography was invented. Think of all the epic memes and intergenerational lulz we’d be sharing with our grandparents right now.

Fuck Yeah Venn Diagrams
Imagine if John Venn could see us now. He invented the Venn diagram in 1881 to demonstrate all hypothetically possible relations between sets and today we’re using them for comedic purposes. And I’m looking him up on Wikipedia. Madness.

Toby, Dave & Ian Explain XKCD
xkcd is, of course, a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language. Toby, Dave & Ian Explain XKCD is a Tumblr blog of answers, speculation, evidence, and interpretation.

Who do you nominate for next Tumblr Tuesday?

Tumblr iPhone 1.1 Sneak Peek!
It’s been submitted to the App Store and should be live this week!  Here’s a preview from its wonderful developer, Jeff Rock:

Video posts. Choose from your camera roll or capture a new video right from the app (iPhone 3GS only).

Native editing. Need to add tags or update a post on the go? Just tap the ‘edit’ button on a post in the Dashboard to load it up in a native post editor.

Search. Supports searching across Tumblr, in your Dashboard or on just your posts.

Built-in web browser. No more losing your place when you tap a link in Dashboard. Now a web browser will pop up and let you investigate the interwebs.

Post upload status. Never wonder how long it’s going to take that Audio post to upload again.

Post geotagging. Even I’m not sure what this is for, but I’m sure that it’s going to be awesome.

Rewritten Dashboard tab (replaces the Sites tab). See all your posts from each of your blogs, including drafts and queues.

Rewritten Advanced Post Options. New support for Save as draft, Add to Queue, Publish on, Custom post URL’s, Send to Twitter and Ask a question.

Dashboard now only reloads on command. Not every time you tap the tab. Sorry about that one :P

Better quality photo posts. Photos are now sent with less compression.

New bookmarklet format for links. More info coming once 1.1 goes live.
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a bug where a post that has been saved for later can become corrupted.
Fixed a bug where Photo posts can cause crashes.
Fixed memory leaks.
There’s even more, but most of it is stuff you won’t see. Much of the core of the application was rewired, re-factored, re-plumbed, simplified and enhanced. The end result being a snappier, more flexible code base that’s ready for all the stuff coming in 1.2 and beyond.
We’ll let you know once it goes live on the App Store!

Whoa.
